Prof. Zbigniew Krasiński Elected the New President of PUMS
The Electoral College, convened on February 27th, has elected Prof. Zbigniew Krasiński, MD, PhD, as the new President of Poznan University of Medical Sciences.
Prof. Krasiński, previously serving as Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs and Regional Cooperation, as well as Head of the Department of Vascular, Endovascular, Angiology, and Phlebology at PUMS, secured an overwhelming majority of votes against Prof. Jarosław Walkowiak. Both candidates extended their gratitude to the electors for their participation in this democratic process.
Expressing his gratitude and commitment to the University community, President-elect Prof. Krasiński stated, "I consider my victory as a commitment to our community. I have included this commitment in the 10 outlined goals, which encompass the essential aspects of University development and the challenges of fostering a truly academic environment." Prof. Krasiński emphasized his dedication to advancing scientific research, enhancing teaching quality, and fostering a university environment that is supportive of all its members—faculty, staff, and students. He further highlighted his focus on promoting work-life balance and study-life balance within the University.
In his election program, Prof. Krasiński outlined various initiatives, including the establishment of transparent criteria for promotion and career advancement and reinforcing the pivotal role of faculties as integral components of the university community, along with a delineation of competencies and authorities.
Despite the official assumption of office being a few months away, Prof. Krasiński expressed eagerness to commence preparations for the program's implementation in collaboration with staff and students. "I deeply value the input received during the election meetings, and I am committed to continuing this dialogue within our University even before the commencement of the new academic year. I firmly believe that our University is a collective effort," added Professor Krasiński.
